I would never be so bold as to
suggest that pet food manufacturers go out to deceive their
customers,.....but...........
Let's take 'Butchers
All Meat Loaf' - click on the name to see the ingredients. Does the
name match the product? - whaddya reckon? 100% meat? 50%? 4%!? - uuhh?
(look at the lamb, peas and rice formulation at the bottom)
I even challenged Purina
through Advertising Standards - Purina claimed that their cat-food
contained 'everything that your cat needs, and nothing it doesn't'.
Why then does it contain
carbohydrates? The Advertising Standards people accepted that
carbohydrates are not essential to cats (which in my book means they are
not needed) but they agreed with Purina that corn is a useful source of
energy for cats!!?!! Are advertising Standards truly independant?
How much meat in Whiskas Oh
So Meaty? - 100%? 50% 14% ?
Perhaps not quite 'so
meaty' after all? Look at the label to reveal the truth.
How about Burn's cat food -
'holistic'
food for cats. Cats, you will now be aware, are 'obligate
carnivores' -they are designed to, and must eat meat. Why then do Burns
sell a catfood that is 40% corn? - and how does this fit with 'holistic'
Does 'organic' appeal - read
this!
